Deo Volente Retreat House
Deo Volente, Inc. owns, operates and maintains a beautiful retreat house located on the water overlooking Albemarle Sound in Kitty Hawk NC. Larger retreats of up to 160 women are held twice a year, usually in April and October near the retreat house. All retreats focus on recovery from the family disease of alcoholism. Alcoholic women and women family members of alcoholics are welcome at these larger retreats. Retreats are directed by leaders who are knowledgeable concerning the disease of alcoholism either as a recovering alcoholic or through education or both.
The year-round retreat home was dedicated following the annual Deo Volente Meeting on February 18, 1984. A well-equipped house on the Albemarle Sound, Deo Volente can accommodate groups of 10 to 12 people. Retreats at the house are self-directed. Any member of Deo Volente can reserve the house for retreats. Join us. Keep the dream alive!
What would Rosie do?
Rosie Dunford was a founding member of Deo Volente, along with Lela Vaughn and Marge Sencindiver, who walked the beach and dreamed of a Retreat home. Rosie was a doer. In the early 80's, she came to her last Retreat and was unable to leave her bed at the hotel. She called several members to her bedside and said, "OK Gulls and Gals, This is yours. You need to carry this on!" Our beloved Retreat House is in URGENT need of major repairs to the seawall facing the beautiful sunsets on the Sound. Please donate now to help keep the dream alive!
As a member of Deo Volente, you may schedule mini-retreats and enjoy the serenity and peace of our Retreat House. Email the House Manager to arrange your group's mini-retreat.
